Knicks’ Guard Reveals Secrets Behind Stephen Curry’s Dominance Over NBA Defenders

Stephen Curry is going to go down in history as either the greatest point guard ever or among the three greatest. Even with him turning 36 years old over the 2023-24 season, Curry hasn’t lost a step. Knicks’ guard Miles McBride explained why that is the case while discussing why Curry continues dominating NBA defenders.

“The thing with Steph is. One, he’s strong. You can’t knock him off balance. Like that’s obviously a part of the reason he’s such a great shooter. He’s also just seen every possible type of defense. So, when I was guarding him, I could just see him reading how I’m guarding him, so he already knows how the rest of the defense is guarding him or vice versa. It’s the unknown — that freedom is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”

Curry averaged 29.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 6.3 assists last season. Despite his inability to stay healthy for the entire season, Curry has shown that when he’s available, he’s arguably the best player in the league.

McBride has a long road up the steps of NBA stardom. He averaged 3.5 minutes and 1.1 assists last season as a sophomore in limited minutes but will hope to get a larger role this season.

Stephen Curry Cannot Be Stopped On Offense
The one thing every NBA team has realized is that limiting Curry’s numbers may be a fool’s errand. Steph is good for 20-25 points a night regardless of how you guard him. The difference is that he can either get those points on efficient shooting or teams make it hard for him, as the Lakers did in the playoffs.

Despite putting up 26.7 points per game, the Lakers held Curry to 43.9% from the field and 34.3% from the three over the series, lower than his season averages. He has been working very hard this summer to keep his skills sharp before the start of next season when the team hopes to return to title contention and win the NBA Cup.

He will be turning 36 next season, with fans waiting to see if he starts declining, given how heavily his style relies on off-ball movement to get open looks. His shooting ability will always remain pure, but his body will start giving up on him soon, as his recent injury history is already proving.
