On Thursday night, Kevin Durant got into a violent argument with two inebriated Dallas Mavericks supporters after they screamed at him as he ran onto the court.
The NBA returned after the All-Star break, and Durant, a two-time champion and past MVP, was in Texas with his Phoenix Suns squad.
A couple of rows away from the floor, two fans yelled at Durant as the players emerged to warm up with the crowd mostly deserted.
‘What?’ Durant said as he spun around to face the man and lady, who were both carrying drinks.
He then approached them, and the female fan, beaming broadly, held out her hand to shake Durant’s as if nothing had happened.
Though it’s impossible to hear what Durant replies to the couple, he was understandably incensed by their remarks and refused to accept her hand.
Grinning too, the man saw Durant was irritated and attempted to defuse the situation by apologizing.
The embarrassed pair attempted to downplay their jokes and started telling Durant a story about a deceased relative and the man’s sports podcast, obviously not expecting Durant to reply.
Clearly unimpressed, Durant cut the talk short and turned to rejoin his teammates as they warmed up.
The American Airlines Center looked like security was ready to eject the couple, but Durant came back and told them to stay.
