Duncan Aviation has finished a custom paint on a Gulfstream G550 belonging to rapper and record executive Rick Ross. The team used Gloss Black and Pearl Gold on a two-tone base, with bold lettering along the fuselage.
Ross met with Senior Completions and Modifications Sales Rep Jeff Beaudette, Senior Lead Designer Mary Lee and Associate Designer Hannah Caulkins for the initial talk about the project. The team knew for this paint job, it would be all about the ramp presence. After the first meeting, Caulkins and Lee researched Ross to gain a clearer understanding of his brand.
“He wanted a very unique, personalized design that makes a statement,” Lee said. He wanted to incorporate his name on the plane and requested to use another color aside from white for the overall base.”
“Purchasing this aircraft was a huge accomplishment for him and we recognized that,” she said. “We wanted to make sure the paint scheme was reflective of this accomplishment. Throughout the entire process, he was super excited and easy to work with, all while being very complimentary of our work.”
Caulkins reflected on the opportunity, sharing that she enjoyed the opportunity to complete a project with such a unique and highly specialized scheme. She shared that knowing how excited he was with the final design concept was a rewarding experience.
The G550 has a Gloss Black and Pearl Gold two-tone base. These colors became the backdrop for the “Rick Ross” lettering places along the fuselage and even used two dollar signs as the letter ‘S’, which is a signature feature on many of his albums. The Design Team and Paint Shop worked to produce a custom and highly-reflective gold for the lettering and achieve that high-impact finished look
