Manchester City’s rising star Julian Alvarez recently had a chance to unwind and explore Manchester’s iconic Heaton Park during a photoshoot with the club’s photography team. Due to the demanding schedules professional athletes face, these “off-site” shoots are rare opportunities for players to be captured in unique locations.
The photoshoot, organized by photographer Tom Flathers, took place near the end of the 2023/24 season. Alvarez, the talented Argentinian forward, was happy to participate despite the busy schedule.
Heaton Park, a source of great pride for Manchester residents, boasts an impressive size – even larger than London’s Hyde Park and just a few hundred acres shy of New York’s Central Park.
The park’s rich history includes hosting horse racing (though the sport eventually moved to Aintree), and it offers a variety of attractions including a boating lake, a golf course, and the historic Heaton Hall.
The park has also been a popular venue for major concerts, having hosted iconic bands like Oasis and The Stone Roses. More recently, it’s become the home of the Manchester Park Life festival, which has been held there since 2013.
