Rupert Friend has been added to the cast of the upcoming Jurassic World movie.

The news about the 42-year-old actor was confirmed on Wednesday, when it was revealed that he would star alongside Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey in the science-fiction feature.

Details about the character that the role that the performer – who recently reunited with his Homeland costar Claire Danes – is set to play were not disclosed, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Development on the new entry in the Jurassic Park franchise was publicly confirmed this past January.

At the time, it was revealed that writer David Koepp had signed on to pen the new movie’s screenplay. 

The entertainment industry figure co-wrote the script for the original Jurassic Park movie alongside Michael Crichton, who wrote the novel on which the film was based.

Koepp went on to write the screenplay for the movie’s sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park, which made its debut in 1997.

Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two films in the franchise, is expected to serve as an executive producer for the new project.

It was reported this past February that David Leitch was in talks to direct the new entry in the franchise.

However, the filmmaker ultimately departed the project, and Gareth Edwards took over the director’s chair that same month.

Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill, who starred as Dr. Ian Malcolm, Dr. Ellie Sattler and Dr. Alan Grant in the original Jurassic Park movie, are not expected to return for the new installment in the feature.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who played Owen Grady and Claire Dearing in the new Jurassic World movies, will not reprise their roles in the seventh Jurassic Park film. 

It was revealed that Johansson was in talks to join the cast of the movie this past March.

It was announced that Bailey was circling a role in the upcoming film the following month.

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, known for his work in the legal drama series The Lincoln Lawyer, was revealed to have begun negotiations to star in the movie earlier this month. 

Production on the upcoming feature is currently expected to kick off in London next month.

The upcoming seventh film in the Jurassic World film franchise is also scheduled to make its debut on July 2, 2025.
