Star Wars franchise sees TWO movies pulled out of development, including one by Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins who hinted last year: ‘I don’t know if it will happen or not’

Two Star Wars movies that were previously in development are now on the shelf – including one from Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins.

Patty, 51, was meant to helm a standalone movie called Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, initially slated for release this coming December.

However it was taken off the release schedule last autumn, and in December Patty told Variety she was still working on the film but ‘I don’t know if it will happen or not.’

In addition to directing the Star Wars picture, the silver fox, who has acted in previous movies he made, may also play a character in it.

The news comes four years after the latest movie in the franchise, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, proved a box office disappointment and a bête noire for fans.

One year earlier Solo: A Star Wars Story, starring Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke, flopped at the box office.

However Star Wars has been faring better in the streaming shows space, where The Mandalorian has racked up formidable ratings and a devoted fan following.

Meanwhile Patty Jenkins was also previously slated to direct a movie about Cleopatra that would reunite her with Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot.

Although she has been replaced as director by Kari Skogland, Patty remains attached to the film in a producing capacity.

Gal and Patty were also previously supposed to make a third Wonder Woman film, but the project was scrapped last year amid a swirl of rumors as to why.

Patty is also serving as a producer on Chris Pine’s upcoming directorial debut Poolman, which he is also starring in and co-writing.
